Amy Fitzsimons (1971) lives and works in St Paul, MN
I make layered, light sensitive film collages that save a portion of history, but for how long? These scraps of film are recycled material. My current work is melancholic and geometric. It blends design with chaos. I use film/acetate, tape and paper. My series is abstraction that melds with structure. Architectural and black and white, I use shapes and gradients to develop art that is emotional and quiet.
Amy Fitzsimons is known for her film collages. She graduated from Al Collins Graphic Design School in 1992 with an Associate Arts Degree in Commercial Art in Tempe, AZ. She soon began her professional artist career as a production artist in Minneapolis. The materials for her film collages presented themselves to Amy in this position. She began saving and began creating this moody, light sensitive, abstract collage series.
